Changelog
What has changed in VERA, week by week. The newest week is first.
Week 36 · Oct 12, 2026
- Project managers: Attach links or notes to an envelope to say which pieces of work count toward it.
- Project managers: See monthly hours by project and by person on Staffing, hours only, with a CSV download.
- Project managers: Record a vendor's time away so planning shows when they are unavailable.
- Owners: An invite email is sent when you add a person, and a Send invite button covers anyone added earlier.
- Owners: Import your history from Harvest in the console, with safe re-runs and one-click undo, then top up later time.
- Owners: Warnings appear when someone with an allocation has no cost rate.
- Owners: LER is measured as gross margin over direct labor, and contractor and vendor fixed fees are treated alike.
- Project managers: Move a project to another client, see a project's client, type and deadline in its header, and see how well deadlines are held.
Week 35 · Oct 5, 2026
- Project managers: Edit a retainer period on its own page, and attach vendor liabilities to a period.
- Owners: Contractors on a fixed price can hold a liability that accrues by the calendar and moves together with their envelope.
- Project managers: A Vendors tab on Staffing lists every vendor and contractor with their liabilities.
- Project managers: Resolve or dismiss several unresolved items at once, and hours fields accept two decimal places.
- Owners: A vendor's accrued hours count as earned revenue in the Monthly P&L and Billing.
- Team members: Time is recorded only by the person who did it; a project manager can edit any entry on their project.
- Project managers: Envelope pages show each week's number, and burn-up charts run on through planned retainer periods.
- Everyone: Vendors can no longer sign in to the console, and time entries without a task read as a dash.
Week 34 · Sep 28, 2026
- Everyone: The console is reorganized into hubs: Money, Staffing, Needs you, Performance, Settings and Logs, each with tabs.
- Project managers: The home page opens with a one-screen brief of money, projects and people, and the morning message uses the same brief.
- Project managers: A retainer is judged on its current period, and a due renewal shows on its page.
- Project managers: Duplicate an envelope, see time outside envelopes, and list a project's tasks alphabetically.
- Owners: Convert a project between types.
- Project managers: The Needs you page lists everything waiting, including projects that still need setup, and unresolved items are grouped by type.
- Team members: A week in progress counts only the days left in it, so capacity reads correctly mid-week.
- Everyone: PTO, Sick and Leave are evergreen: no dates, budgets or financials.
Week 33 · Sep 21, 2026
- Project managers: Retainers can be created again: each period has its own page for staffing, edits and tasks, with a Re-up control to roll forward.
- Project managers: The PM of a retainer is told when a period is about to end with no successor.
- Project managers: Past capacity weeks show recorded hours, and finished projects stop counting as committed.
- Owners: Forecast scenarios show the effect of winning an open proposal alongside the committed forecast.
- Owners: The projects table has an LER column, and a completed T&M project's unapproved time is back in the approvals queue.
- Project managers: Configuration, PM and Enabled tasks are one card, and advice links open the form they point to.
- Everyone: Everyday labels are clearer: for example "103h over" instead of a negative figure.
Week 32 · Sep 14, 2026
- Project managers: A "What this project needs" card lists the next steps for each project in plain language, ranked by what clears the most.
- Project managers: Set a project's start date; time before a client project starts is refused, and envelope windows stay inside the project's dates.
- Owners: Set a company-wide target LER and override it per project, with a button that sets hours for the target.
- Owners: A Finish setting up checklist on the home page walks a new workspace through the basics.
- Project managers: Managers can create projects and clients and make themselves the PM of a project without one.
- Owners: Use VERA without Slack, signing in with Google or Microsoft, and move your own account between owner and admin.
- Everyone: The morning briefing reads correctly by email, and time reads answer for exactly the person you ask about.
- Everyone: Tightened who can see and change what.
Week 31 · Sep 7, 2026
- Owners: Project cost no longer applies an employer cost multiplier; that figure now lives in the Users hub only.
- Project managers: See how each allocation's plan changed over time, and a Plan accuracy column on the Project Managers tab.
- Everyone: Full-time staff are automatically given holiday time once a company holiday has passed.
- Everyone: Dates follow your workspace's own time zone.
- Owners: Gross pay and employer cost on the Direct labor tab are calculated the right way round.
- Everyone: Chart axes spell out months in full and show fewer labels on long schedules.
Week 30 · Aug 31, 2026
- Owners: A month-end Billing view compares what each project was scheduled to bill with what it earned.
- Owners: Fixed Price projects can carry a billing schedule, edited on its own page.
- Project managers: T&M projects have a time approval page where a PM writes hours down before billing.
- Project managers: Reset to default and Undo reset on both shaping editors.
- Owners: Discipline-level fixes: tasks are classified for client or internal work, and by-discipline reports no longer misattribute time.
Week 29 · Aug 24, 2026
- Project managers: The envelopes table is narrower and easier to read, with a sortable Hours column and a usage bar that reads each envelope on its own.
- Owners: Contributions shows each figure as a percentage of capacity, and chart lines match each person's color.
- Project managers: Task notes appear on hover wherever a task is listed.
- Project managers: Managers can open a capacity cell, and the envelope chart shows other commitments and weekly capacity as context.
- Project managers: Budget health and Projected exhaustion show the working behind them.
Week 28 · Aug 17, 2026
- Project managers: Log time to a specific allocation when more than one covers the same task; capacity no longer double-counts hours across them.
- Owners: Every scheduled message VERA sends is recorded and can be read by an owner.
- Project managers: The Schedule verdict shows its working: how many hours were recorded against the plan, and the plan's expected progress.
- Owners: Export a CSV for a project or a date range, with cost columns and no blank or truncated rows.
- Project managers: Allocations can carry a label, and the Log time dropdown shows each project's client.
- Owners: People filters can separate contractors and vendors.
Week 27 · Aug 10, 2026
- Team members: Time, Activity and Time off are now one tabbed Time page.
- Project managers: Charts on Reports, Forecast and Portfolio can be zoomed.

- Owners: Disciplines carry a color shown across the console, and tables sort by clicking any header.
- Project managers: Charts can be zoomed with the mouse wheel or buttons and panned by dragging.
- Team members: The Time page marks holidays, weekends, time off and empty days, and shows the week total beside what is expected.
- Project managers: Time recorded on a company holiday is flagged for review instead of blocked.
- Everyone: Dates read as "Jul 30", success messages float and fade, and errors stay on screen until fixed.
- Owners: The Budget health label clarifies what it measures, and the contribution-margin column uses a segmented bar.
- Everyone: Everything is written in American English.
Week 25 · Jul 27, 2026
- Project managers: Shape an allocation across the weeks it covers, and see the plan as a Planned pace line on the burn-up chart; on-course status follows your plan.
- Project managers: Capacity honors the window and weekly shape of each allocation; a proposal's capacity simulation shows demand week by week.
- Project managers: Envelopes are edited on their own page with a readable chart.
- Owners: Users, Rates, Bands and Direct labor became one tabbed Users page; expand a person to see their rate and level history.
- Project managers: Time outside any allocation, or beyond an allocation's hours, becomes a short exception list instead of an approval step.
- Owners: Projected exhaustion follows the plan, and the portfolio uses the same planned baseline as each project.
- Everyone: Charts are smoother and no longer depend on outside libraries.
Week 24 · Jul 20, 2026
- Owners: A team Contributions view compares everyone's hours by month, quarter or year, with filters, bulk select and a per-person view.
- Owners: Compensation bands per discipline and level, a direct-labor view that compares pay to the band, and salary bands refreshed from published wage data.
- Project managers: The capacity heatmap uses a scale where idle and overbooked are both red, and grays out weeks with no availability.
- Project managers: Managers see a My projects group in the sidebar, a list scoped to their own projects and a "You" badge.
- Everyone: Link-style navigation updates part of the page in place instead of reloading.
- Everyone: Every sidebar item has an icon; the audit channel now announces only things that are created or retroactive time changes.
- Everyone: Admin accounts no longer get time-recording nudges, and LER excludes projects that earn no revenue.
Week 23 · Jul 13, 2026
- Everyone: Sessions renew automatically for 30 days of use instead of expiring after 12 hours.
- Project managers: The capacity heatmap and the person page agree on overbooked weeks, and Projected exhaustion shows the gap to the deadline in work days.

Week 22 · Jul 6, 2026
- Everyone: Behind-the-scenes reliability and speed improvements.
Week 21 · Jun 29, 2026

- Everyone: A round of fixes for financial calculations, input checks and reminder timing.

- Project managers: Project pages show a burn-up chart, work days remaining and a live budget panel for Fixed Price projects.

- Owners: Cost-aware hours-budget calculator warns when a price implies a loss.
- Everyone: Rates now follow the correct effective date, and amounts in the audit channel are hidden.
Week 18 · Jun 8, 2026
- Owners: The console gained a monthly company-wide P&L, a Project Managers comparison, a forecast page, and a per-project P&L card.

- Project managers: Filter and sort the project list and navigate through a consistent sidebar.
- Team members: Logging, editing and deleting your own time in Slack is faster and predictable, with a menu when a name is ambiguous.
- Project managers: Retrieval questions like "show my time" and creating clients and tasks now answer instantly.
Week 16 · May 25, 2026
- Owners: A new Admin role has owner-level access but is left out of utilization and capacity statistics.
- Team members: The morning message leads with your active allocations, and sub-hour entries read as minutes instead of decimals.
- Everyone: The chat window stays pinned to the bottom while VERA replies.
- Everyone: VERA's understanding of requests moved from guessing to a fixed, predictable process, so the same request gives the same result.
Week 15 · May 18, 2026
- Everyone: Many fixes so that creating clients, projects, allocations, users and tasks by chat works first time without a confirmation step.
- Project managers: Allocations can now be updated, cancelled or reactivated by number, and projects can be closed or budgets changed through chat.
- Everyone: Edit and delete your own time entries.
- Everyone: Pronouns and names with long dashes are understood correctly.
Week 14 · May 11, 2026
- Everyone: VERA now understands requests like "log 2 hours on that project" more reliably, remembering names and projects from earlier in the conversation.
- Everyone: Dates such as "last Friday" are understood based on whether you are logging or setting a deadline.
- Owners: Safely offboard a client workspace, with a full export of their data before anything is removed.
- Project managers: Permission checks happen up front, so you are told right away when a request is above your role.
Week 13 · May 4, 2026
- Owners: Create, rename and archive tasks, clients and disciplines. Archiving keeps history intact instead of deleting it.
- Project managers: See team-wide time off, and see a project's LER, schedule and expected margin on the dashboard.
- Everyone: Name matching is much stricter, so VERA no longer picks the wrong person on a near-miss spelling.
- Everyone: VERA now reports its own errors automatically so problems are fixed faster.

- Team members: Reply 1 or 0 to answer yes or no.
Week 5 · Mar 9, 2026
- Project managers: Allocations now name a task, so each person's hours are planned by type of work. "Allocation" replaced "budget" for per-person hours throughout.
- Owners: Rename people, restrict budget changes to owners, and see an audit message for every edit and delete of time.
- Team members: Short numbered shortcuts in the morning summary let you act with a single digit.
- Everyone: Many fixes to name matching so VERA picks the right person when you @mention or type a name.

- Project managers: Assign project managers, track retainers for over- and underspend, and receive daily retainer summaries and alerts.
- Team members: Every time entry now needs a task, and entries are tied to a person rather than a typed name.
- Owners: Export time data as a CSV file straight into your Slack messages. Daily automatic backups run at midnight.
- Everyone: Changes made by VERA are posted to a team audit channel as short, emoji-tagged messages.
Week 1 · Feb 9, 2026
- Team members: Log time by chatting with VERA in Slack, then edit or delete an entry later. Hours show as "4h 30m" instead of decimals.
- Project managers: Create, rename and list projects, give each project its own tasks, and see progress bars for how much of a budget is used.
- Team members: A morning summary and an evening check against your daily target arrive in Slack so nothing goes unlogged.
- Everyone: VERA asks you to pick from a short list instead of guessing when a project or task name is close but not exact.
